1891 - Cole Porter (Cole Albert Porter) born in Peru, Indiana. Composer and songwriter who wrote countless classic songs, including 'Night And Day', 'I Get A Kick Out Of You', 'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye', 'I've Got You Under My Skin'. Porter died on 15th Oct 1964 - https://youtu.be/1T6SG0t9jfQ .
1916 - Les Paul (Lester William Polfus) born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, U.S.A., was one of the pioneers of the solid-body electric guitar, and his prototype called "the Log", served as inspiration for the Gibson Les Paul. He had a 1953 ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง No.7 single with โ€˜Vaya Con Diosโ€™ and the ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ No.7 single โ€˜Hummingbirdโ€™ with Mary Ford featuring his multi-layered recording techniques. He also pioneered โ€˜close mikingโ€™ and echo delay recording. 1929 - Johnny Ace (John Marshall Alexander Jr.) born in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Johnny was Billboards 'most played artist of 1955'. Ace had eight hits in a row, including 'Cross My Heart', 'Please Forgive Me' and , 'Never Let Me Go'. 1934 - Jackie Wilson born in Detroit, Michigan, United States. He scored 24 ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Top 40 hits during late 50s & 60s. He had the 1986 ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง No.1 single with the re-issued 'Reet Petite'. Van Morrison wrote 'Jackie Wilson Said' which was covered by Dexy's Midnight Runners. 1941 - Jon Lord (Deep Purple) born in Leicester, England. In 1968, Lord co-founded Deep Purple, a hard rock band of which he was regarded as the leader until 1970. The band had had the 1970 ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง No.2 single 'Black Night', and the 1973 ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ No. 4 single 'Smoke On The Water'. 1947 - John โ€œMitchโ€ Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience) born in Ealing, Middlesex, England as John Mitchell.

1949 - Francis Monkman born in Hampstead, North London, England is an English rock, classical and film score composer, and a founding member of both the progressive rock band Curved Air and the classical/rock fusion band Sky.

1970 - Ed Simons of The Chemical Brothers is born in Herne Hill, South London, England.
1972 - Elvis Presley made entertainment history by performing four sold-out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden. George Harrison, John Lennon, David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Art Garfunkel were among music stars that attended the shows. The shows were recorded and became the album 'Elvis as recorded at Madison Square Garden'.

1978 - The Rolling Stones released "Some Girls", their first studio album recorded with Ronnie Wood as a full member.
