TBA โ€“ ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ - Noel Funicello was born on the 19th of July. A member of the Amazing Woolloomooloosers, Noel also provided support for groups such as Paul Kelly and The Coloured Girls (whose international name was Paul Kelly and The Messengers). 1925 - Sue Thompson is born Eva Sue McKee in Nevada, Missouri. Known for the '60s pop hits "Sad Movies (Make Me Cry)" (1961 No.6 in ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ) and "Norman" (1962 No.10 in ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ), plus โ€œPaper Tigerโ€, which peaked at No.2 in ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ in 1965 - https://youtu.be/bFWVIK92Y-k .

1937 - George Hamilton IV born. US country singer, (1958 ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ No.5, US No.10 & UK No.22 single 'Why Don't They Understand'). Hamilton had a heart attack on September 13 and died September 17 at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville - https://youtu.be/gWHEZ5FP0vw .

1941 - Pop singer Vikki Carr is born Florencia Bisenta de Casillas-Martinez Cardona in El Paso, Texas. Her first hit is a cover of The Crystals' "He's A Rebel" in 1962; it peaks at No.5 in ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ - https://youtu.be/8S3HCG22zsk .

1941 - American blues, jazz and R&B guitarist and bassist Phil Upchurch born in Chicago, Illinois. He has worked with Curtis Mayfield, Otis Rush, Jimmy Reed, Cat Stevens, David Sanborn, and appeared on Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album. 1943 - ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ - Gerry Humphrys was born on the 19th of July 1943 in London, England. Lead vocalist for The Loved Ones (Melbourne based Rock band from 1965 - 1967) and Gerry and The Joy Band (Melbourne based Rock band 1971 - 1972). When The Loved Ones upped stumps, there was no holding back for Gerry Humphreys, who soon unleashed his new 'supergroup', Gerry & The Joy Band, with a series of singles, like "Ongo Bongo Man" and Buddy Holly's "Rave On" (for which he was backed by an all-star studio supergroup including members of Daddy Cool and backing vocalist Margret RoadKnight). Humphreys later ventured into management (The Valentines, which included future AC/DC rock-god, Bon Scott) and appeared in battered cowboy hat to compere the legendary first Sunbury rock festival. Humphreys lived in the UK for many years and dropped out of the music scene entirely. Although he was invited to take part in the Long Way to the Top concert tour in 2002, unfortunately Gerry was unable to take part because he had to undergo a hip-joint replacement operation. 1944 - Commander Cody (of Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen) is born George Frayne IV in Boise, Idaho. Plays piano and vocalist with Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen, country rock group. Best known in ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ for their 1972 single โ€œHot Rod Lincolnโ€ - https://youtu.be/868DSi85odQ .

1946 - Allan Gorrie born in Perth, Scotland. Bassist from Scottish funk and R&B group the Average White Band who scored the 1975 US No.1 and UK No.6 single 'Pick Up The Pieces'.

1947 - Bernie Leadon born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Guitarist with the Eagles, quit the band in Jan 1976. (1974 US No.1 single 'Best Of My Love') - https://youtu.be/iU-wXrdh-8U .

1947 - Brian May born in Hampton, Middlesex, England. Guitarist, singer and songwriter with Queen who had the 1975 ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ & UK No.1 single 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which returned to No.1 in 1991. Queen scored over 40 other Top 40 singles and scored the 1980 US No.1 single 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'. May had the solo 1992 UK No.5 single 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' (No.12 in ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ). He was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2005 for 'services to the music industry and his charity work'. 1948 - ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ - Graham Matters was born on the 19th of July 1948 and died on the 7th of May 2021 aged 72. Bassist with the Melbourne based Adderley Smith Blues Band. Melbourne's Adderly Smith Blues Band were laying down heavy blues way ahead of their time and they are now recognised as one of Australia's first 'authentic' blues groups. The band is also notable for the fact that several members went onto to bigger things - Smith and Tolhurst went on to work variously with Sundown, Carson and Country Radio before forming The Dingoes; Joe Camilleri has carved out a brilliant career both as a solo artist and with his acclaimed bands Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, The Black Sorrows, The Revelators and Bakelite Radio. Blues fanatics Mark Dindas and Kerryn Tolhurst (ex-Blues Merchants, Vacant Lot) formed the group in 1964. 1948 - Keith Godchaux born in Seattle, Washington, United States. Pianist, best known for his tenure in Grateful Dead from 1971 to 1979. Godchaux sustained massive head injuries after being involved in a car crash while being driven home on his birthday. He died four days later, on 23 July 1979 aged 32.

1952 - Allen Collins is born Larkin Allen Collins Jr. in Jacksonville, Florida. Guitarist with southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd who had the 1974 US No. 8 single 'Sweet Home Alabama' the 1977 US No. 5 album Street Survivors and the 1982 UK No.21 single 'Freebird'. Collins was behind the wheel in a car accident in 1986 that killed his girlfriend and left him paralysed from the waist down. 1954 - Sun Records released the first Elvis Presley single, 'That's All Right', a cover of Arthur Crudup's 1946 tune 'That's All Right, Mama'. Only about 7,000 original copies were pressed, but the disc became a local hit in Memphis - https://youtu.be/NmopYuF4BzY .

1967 - The Beatles were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'All You Need Is Love' the group's 12th UK No.1 single. John Lennon wrote 'All You Need is Love' which was thought to sum up the 1967 'summer of love' and The Beatles' sympathies - https://youtu.be/1A8sOOKianA .

1974 - The Ozark Music Festival was held over three days on the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri. One of the largest music festivals ever held, some estimates have put the crowd count at 350,000 people. 1975 - Paul McCartney and Wings went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Listen To What The Man Said', his fourth US No.1, and No.6 hit in the UK (the track features Tom Scott playing the saxophone solo). It would go on to sell a million copies in America and reach No.6 in the UK. Wings also had the US No.1 album chart with 'Venus And Mars'. Paul McCartney's fourth No.1 album since The Beatles. 1979 - Michelle Heaton born. Singer from British-Irish group Liberty X, who had the 2002 UK No.1 and ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ No.3 single 'Just A Little'. The group was formed by the five finalists of the British talent show Popstars who failed to make it into the group Hear'Say. 1989 - James Brown changed accommodations behind bars after $40000 in cash and cheques was discovered in his minimum-security cell. The Godfather of Soul had been given a six year sentence the previous December after several run-ins with the law, including illegal gun possession, resisting arrest, assault and leading the authorities on a few car chases. His new home was at a medium security cell at the Stevenson Correctional Institute.
1989 - Residents of Washington, Connecticut formed a 'Roll the Stones Out of Town', action group after they were unhappy with The Rolling Stones and their entourage setting up in the town for rehearsals for their forthcoming tour. Residents said it was like the army had moved in and taken over, with security guards stopping locals and asking them what they were doing there.

2014 - Ed Sheeran was at No.1 on the UK album chart with X (pronounced multiply), his second studio album. The album peaked at No. 1 in fifteen countries, and the lead single, 'Sing', became Sheeran's first UK No.1 song (it peaked at No.2 in ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ). 2019 - ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ - Anthony Smith aka Adam Hall of Flowers / Icehouse (1977 - 1982) died at his home in north Lismore aged 61. Anthony Smith, from the Bathurst District of New South Wales, joined Flowers through answering a newspaper advertisement. This was in September 1978, at the time when the band abandoned part time gigging and turned fully professional. The band, objecting to the ordinariness of his real name and his rather retiring personality, attempted to create a new image for him by dubbing him with the professional name of "Adam Hall." This only resulted in him becoming variously labelled as Adam Hall, Anthony Hall and even by his real name, until the fans began to wonder just how frequently Flowers was changing keyboard players. 2019 - โ—๏ธ - Crowds dancing at a festival triggered minor earthquakes. The biggest tremors were recorded during a headline set by indie band Two Door Cinema Club at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, England.
