1925: Johnny Pearson born. A British composer, orchestra leader and pianist, he led the Top of the Pops orchestra for sixteen years, wrote a catalogue of library music, and had many of his pieces used as the theme music to television series.
1938: Don โSugarcaneโ Harris Harris was born and raised in Pasadena, California. His parents were carnival entertainers. As a youth, he studied classical violin, and learned additional instruments including harmonica, piano and guitar. Harris began performing with a doo-wop group, The Squires, which included his childhood friend, the pianist Dewey Terry. Harris also performed in Little Richard's band in the 1960s.
1942: Carl Radle (bass player for Derek and the Dominos) is born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Radle was best known for his long association with Eric Clapton, starting in 1969 with Delaney and Bonnie and Friends and continuing in 1970 with Derek and the Dominos. 1942: Paul McCartney is born James Paul McCartney in Allerton, Liverpool, England. Appearing as Paul McCartney, The Beatles Wings or solo. The most successful rock composer of all time. 1953: Jerome Smith born. A guitarist with American disco and funk group KC and the Sunshine Band who had the 1975 US No.1 single 'That's The Way, I Like It', and the 1983 UK No.1 single 'Give It Up'. 1982: Nathan Cavaleri was born in Sydney, New South Wales. Regarded as a child prodigy, Cavaleri was later trained by, and at age thirteen, eventually toured with, B.B. King. King described Cavaleri as "the future of the blues". In May 1992 Cavaleri released his debut single, "Little Egypt", which was a cover version of Elvis Presley's track from 1964, and peaked at No. 63 in Australia. 1988: 'Doctorin' The Tardis' by The Timelords was at No.1 on the
singles chart. The Timelords were Scottish duo Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, who formed KLF. The song was a mash-up of the Doctor Who theme music, Gary Glitter's 'Rock and Roll (Part Two)' with sections from 'Blockbuster!' by Sweet.

1992: Peter Allen (b. 10 Feb 1944 in Tenterfield, NSW) died. Born Peter Richard Woolnough, he was an Australian singer-songwriter, musician and entertainer, known for his flamboyant stage persona, boundless energy, and lavish costumes. His songs were made popular by many recording artists, including Elkie Brooks, Melissa Manchester and Olivia Newton-John, with one, "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" by Christopher Cross, winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1981 - https://youtu.be/tuBlc1TL1ak .
1993: Lollapalooza 1993 kicks off at Thunderbird Stadium, in Vancouver, BC. The main stage acts include the headliner, Primus, as well as Alice in Chains, Dinosaur Jr., Fishbone, Arrested Development, Front 242, Babes in Toyland (first half), Tool (second half), and Rage Against the Machine.
