1941 - Shirley Owens Alston of The Shirelles is born in Henderson, North Carolina. Through marriages, she became Shirley Alston and later, Shirley Alston Reeves. 1964 - On their first world tour The Beatles took a flight from Hong Kong to πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί making an unscheduled fuel stop in Darwin, where over 400 fans greeted their aircraft. The Beatles then flew on to Sydney, where they arrive in the middle of a heavy downpour. The group were required to appear in an open-top truck in the pouring rain to wave at the 1,000's of fans greeting them at the airport.
1965 - Ray Ahn (Bassist for The Hard-Ons) was born, going to school in Lakemba Primary Sydney, NSW. 1965 - Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago is born in Manila, Philippines. In January 1986, Charles Thompson formed the Pixies with Santiago. Thompson gave Santiago the choice of bass or lead guitar; Santiago chose to play lead.
