1929: David Lynch (of The Platters) is born in St. Louis, Missouri. He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1950's. Lynch was asked to join a vocal quartet which included Herb Reed and Tony Williams. His debonair look, smooth dance moves. a distinct tenor voice added to The Platters unique style. 1940: Fontella Bass, known for the 1965 soul hit "Rescue Me," is born in St. Louis, Missouri. American R&B and soul singer and songwriter best known for her number-one 🇺🇸 R&B hit "Rescue Me" in 1965 (the original version of "Rescue Me" was used in a TV advertising campaign by American Express). 1943: 🇦🇺 - Judith Durham (Judith Mavis Cock) (Seekers) born in Essendon, Victoria. she is an Australian singer, songwriter and musician who became the lead singer of the Australian popular folk music group The Seekers in 1963. 1945: Johnny Lee (John Lee Ham) born in Alta Loma, Texas, USA.. An American country music singer. His 1980 single "Lookin' for Love" became a crossover hit, spending three weeks at number 1 on the Billboard country singles chart while also appearing in the top 5 on the 🇺🇸 Billboard Hot 100 chart and top 10 on 🇺🇸 Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. 1948: Paul Barrerre (Little Feat) born in Burbank California; he died October 26 2019 in Los Angeles. Barrere's best known contributions to Little Feat as a songwriter include "Skin It Back", and "Feats Don't Fail Me Now" from the album Feats Don't Fail Me Now, "All That You Dream" from The Last Record Album, "Time Loves a Hero" from Time Loves a Hero, and "Down on the Farm" from Down on the Farm. 1951: Mike Corby (keyboardist/lead guitarist of The Babys, which he founded) is born in Windsor, Berkshire, England - https://youtu.be/s-c8X52Qg4o .
1952: Pop singer Laura Branigan ("Gloria," "Self Control") is born. She is raised in Armonk, New York. Her signature song, the platinum-certified 1982 single "Gloria", stayed on the 🇺🇸. Billboard Hot 100 for 36 weeks, then a record for a female artist, peaking at No. 2. It also reached number one in Australia and Canada. In 1984, she reached number one in Canada and Germany with the 🇺🇸 No. 4 hit "Self Control". Branigan died in her sleep at her lodge in East Quogue, New York, on August 26, 2004, at age 52. 1960: 🇦🇺 -Stephen Morgan (Icehouse) born, although the year is hard to confirm. Steve joined Icehouse in 1986 as Bass player. Their best-selling album is 1987's Man of Colours, which contained the Australian hit singles "Crazy" which peaked at No. 3 in July, "Electric Blue", co-written by Davies and John Oates of U.S. band Hall & Oates, peaked at No. 1 in October, "My Obsession" No. 5 in December, "Man of Colours" No. 28 in February 1988 and "Nothing Too Serious" No. 29 in May 1988. It was the first Australian album to have five singles charting in the top 30, it remained at No. 1 on the Australian album charts for eleven weeks and has sold over 700,000 copies. 1962: 🇦🇺 Brian Canham was born and grew up in Melbourne Australia. A founding member and frontman of Pseudo Echo for almost 40 years; known for his dark, brooding vocals, edgy synth sound and ever-evolving fashion style. Pseudo Echo became known in the early eighties, as pioneers of electronica in Australia, earning a string of hits, awards, and Gold/ Platinum records. 1969: Kevin Hearn (keyboardist for Barenaked Ladies) is born in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada - https://youtu.be/Zs3xXlXSOKk .
1969: ❗️Brian Jones drowned while under the influence of drugs and alcohol after taking a midnight swim in his pool. His body was found at the bottom of the pool by his Swedish girlfriend Anna Wohlin. The coroner's report stated "Death by misadventure", and noted his liver and heart were heavily enlarged by drug and alcohol abuse. 1971: ❗️Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, died in Paris of a heart attack whilst having a bath. No autopsy is performed, and while drugs are suspected, the official cause is listed as "heart attack induced by respiratory problems. 1973: At the Hammersmith Odeon in London, David Bowie appears as Ziggy Stardust for the last time, explaining: "Not only is this the last show of the tour, but it's the last show that we'll ever do." Many take this to mean Bowie was retiring from music altogether, though Bowie just means he is retiring Stardust. This show is later made into a movie directed by D.A. 1973: Laurens Hammond the inventor of the Hammond organ died aged 73. Many rock artists including Procol Harum, Keith Emerson, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Allman Brothers Band and the Faces featured the sound of the Hammond. He also invented a silent spring-driven clock and during the second world war he helped design guided missile systems.

2014: 🇳🇿 🇦🇺 - Peter William Dawkins (27 November 1946 – 3 July 2014) was born in Timaru New Zealand. After spending time as a musician touring Europe in the mid-60's, he became a record producer, best known for his late-1960s to mid-1970s New Zealand hits and his 1970s productions for Australian-based pop artists, including Dragon, Australian Crawl and Air Supply. He won multiple production awards, including the Countdown Producer of the Year. In the late 1980s, he developed Parkinson's disease.
