Wanting to be clear, I have no ownership rights or claims for these tracks; I have uploaded them as an educational piece about Australian music as there are no available places known to me where they can be played.

The tracks are the A and B side of the 1966 single by The Questions, Wheels and Karelia, both instrumentals.

I hope you remember them and can tell others where to rediscover the sound.

Looking at the magic that happens as you open the cartons, I see a number of items that make me think...

"Did they cheat in the 50's & 60's when they did not have quite enough to make an album"?  Releasing an EP may have been an easy way to keep the artists in full view, allowing extra time to finish the writing and recording of the next album.

Then, I look at today and note many of the songs released are done individually, or as an EP.  Digital streaming means there is no need to prepare an album now, so maybe the originals were just leading us to the way of the future, even though we could not tell at the time.

Here's a few from then to whet the appetite...

Every now and then... a little bit of magic!

The opening, discovering, cleaning, testing and logging of the musical history I own continues.

Sure, opening the box and eagerly looking at the zip bags full of known musical releases, as well as the new discoveries is a highlight; but in all honesty, I love the evaluation phase where I estimate the quality of the record in its current state and then clean it and where appropriate, rebuild the covers in which they come.

As you clean them, each cover is assessed for its ability to fulfill its protective purpose for another 30-50 years.  At this stage, after logging almost 1,300 7" singles in the on-line databases, I have a chuckle when I think it's taken 198 metres of sellotape to get them there!  I reckon there's only about 3,000 to go, so by my estimate, I'm going to have to corner the sellotape market! Haha.  Seriously, the math says I'll need a further 520 33-metre rolls!

Anyway, may latest updates include the following releases, including the leaflet I found in the 1971 Elvis Presley single, I'm Leavin'.  It's an invitation to join the Elvis Presley Fan Club of Australia (sic). I wonder if they still exist, and if so, whether they've gone digital 😎.

Here we go:

July - interesting results, you just never know!

So far this month, I've been surprised by the content I've found in the storage boxes. Some Aussie labels (Downunder, Leedon & Spin)
have revealed some treasures, whilst international fare, like Decca, Parlophone and CBS Coronet have given me others.  These are apparently in high demand... interested?

Here goes and as usual, if this jogs a memory, Job Done!

2020 - Half-time

The passing months have officially called half-time on 2020.  I've added several hundred titles to the database and rediscovered many of the tunes as they hit the turntable; earworms included, 😎.

To close the half, here's a selection of the items logged.  See anything that goes "Ding-a-ling"?  Shout out if you do!
